Learning how to speak french
is not as hard as you think..

But there are things you should know first..

Language barrier has been an issue for me when I moved to Canada.
Where I live, more than 75% of the population speaks french.
It is an OBLIGATION for the merchands out there to be able to answer people in french.

But I had never spoken a single word of french before.. and while I was so terrified about this different language, Eva, my 5 years old daughter seemed to find this language very funny. ..I wish I could have felt the same.. but to me it all sounded more like a pain in... hehe.

But I did not have a whole lot of time to get used to their way of speaking.. I had to learn quickly in order to get a new job fast.
In fact, the reason I moved to Canada was because of my ex husband.. He had been trsnsfered to Montreal, and two months after we moved there, we realized that it would not work out anymore between the two of us.

Of course, I was a house wife with no professionnal experience, and I had to fill my girl's mouth at least 3 times a day.. The perfect scenario isn't ?

So I started looking for different classes or institutions that could teach french basics rather quickly.
And I came up with a list of about 20 different places and course that should help me achieve this.

The only thing that bothered me was... money.

Language Courses

Language courses are always very expensive, but at this point, I had heard so many people telling me that paying more was worth it because THAT was what made the difference between learning the very basics or becoming fluent in French.
So what did I do ?

I found the most reputed course for learning how to speak french andI subscribed.

$1995 for 6 weeks of courses.. ONE day per week.
It was with the "Institut Linguistique de Montreal".

The first class actually helped me realized many things.. But mostly that I could never be able to actually learn French. They were forcing us to always speak french.. and I simply could not follow their pacing. Plus I don't have a single clue why.. but they give gender to the material things they have.  A "table" is considere a "female" thing, while an "oven" is considered a "male" thing. C

I know.. it may seem coward to quit after only one try.. but I was not going to lose 2 grand for nothing.. I needed to speak french to get a job to MAKE money, not waste some.

Personnal Coach

I then tried to find home classes. I found a woman who could come to my place and give eprsonnal lessos for only $50 per hour, which is way less expensive than the other course I had taken.

I liked what she first told me :
"Apprendre le français n'est vraiment pas compliqué.. Mais la seule façon deréussir est en pratiquant frequamment.. de préférence à tous les jours."
... whats does that mean ? I asked.

And she laughed at me... hehe.. yeah right !
But she translated for me, and this meant :
"Learning how to speak french is really not complicated.. But the only wayto make it is by preacticing on a steady basis; every day is possible."

Okay.. this makes sense.. So I went on with lesson one.. and lessons two.. and at lesson three.. I was still struggling to REMEMBER what she had taught me the first time.

I am sorry about that, but how the heck am I supposed to remember every single word of a new language in a matter of a few hours ?
How can that be possible ?!

And same happenned for lesson 4 and 5.. She ended up being less and less patient.
And she quit on me, saying that I was not making the proper efforts to learn and remember what she was teaching me.

That totally insulted me !
How the heck could someone teaching a new language say something like this ?

What Else.. ?

What I personally needed was a program that I could possess and practice with at my own pace, from home.
So I did search for all the different possibilities, and I found half a dozen of different programs that were rated well by customers.

Learning how to speak french was becoming more like a shore to me than anything else.

But what I've discovered changed that completely.

I browsed the Internet for different programs teaching how to speak french online, and I looked especially for reviews that people had written about their own personnal experiences.

A good number of people had tried a specific course and seemed to be pleased by the results.
So I went on and checked their home page. It looked very interesting.. But it was a little bit unexpensive for what it claimed to do.

I was spending 50$ per hour for personnal lessons.. and this course was not even the price of two hours of class..
And it should be supposed to make me learn french rapidly ?

I was very skeptical about it.. but since they offered a full money back guarantee..

Well, I gave it a shot.

And I was actually very pleased with the product.
I had the choice between receiving audio coruse at home or having a digital product that I could use on my computer. I went for the second option, since it was cheaper.

I received many different document giving step by step lessons. Audio explanations were also included.
Plus there were illustrations to help get into the right context for every lessons, which was good.

But what I liked the most about this course is that it is explained just for people who are getting started with learning french.
What I mean is that they don't rush you into some very technical terms.

They start with the very basics and proceed with more and more materials as you progress.

THIS is what I call going at a reasonnable pace for learning a new language. Plus if I did not understand something, I could simply put the audio on pause and read back the chapter that I was learning.

So I went on and read all the material in the course.
I listened to all the audio classes too.

And you nkow what... I have completed the course about 3 months ago.. and I think I can speak French VERY WELL !

"Je suis très fière d'avoir réussis à apprendre le français aussi rapidement.
Je peux maintenant me débrouiller sans problème avec les gens que je rencontre.
Et mieux encore, j'ai pu me servir de ce cours pour apprendre le Francais à ma fille, Eva."

You see ? :D

That means :
"I am proud that I've learned french this fast.
I can now converse with everyone I meet with no problem.
And even better; I used this course to teach my daughter, Eva, how to speak french too !"

I know how frustrating it can be to hit the wall of a language barrier, but believe me, even the hardest language can be learnt very fast.. All you need is the proper way of being taught this information.

For those of you who would like to learn more about this course, or if you want to get started today by learning how to speak french, I suggest that you start with the same course that I tried.
